Salter Quest Winter 2017

Read about exciting progress in SE Massachusetts and Maine to bring back the historic sea-run brook trout that once teemed in hundreds of coastal access streams throughout New England.

Thank you to all who contributed to making this happen. A special thanks goes out to the Lyman Family for donating the Red Brook Property, and for Mass Wildlands Trust (the people who collect fishing / hunting license fees and taxes on sporting goods sales) as these two sources contributed the bulk of the resources necessary to bringing these streams back.

I would also be remiss if I didn’t credit all the hard work done by Warren Winders, Steve Angers (both cofounders of SRBTC) and the work done by Southeastern Mass TU Chapter.

They did the bulk of heavy lifting at Red Brook – truly a book could be written about their extensive efforts – and they continue to work at restoration every chance they can get.

Stay tuned for more…

Enjoy!

Salter Quest From Trout Magazine_FINAL 2017Mark Taylor at Trout Unlimited’s Trout Magazine recently did a wonderful multi-page article about salter brook trout restoration.

  1. I have experience catching sea-run brook trout when growing up along the coast of Maine. If that might be of any use feel free to contact me at this email address.
